CU falls to top-ranked Lindsey Wilson in OT to end season

Box Score RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Campbellsville University men's soccer took its program to a new height Wednesday evening, as the Tigers forced overtime with No. 1 team in NAIA, Lindsey Wilson College, for the first time in program history. Campbellsville fell short though in the sixth minute of extra time, as the Blue Raiders recoreded a 1-0 victory to advance to the Mid-South Conference Championship.

Moses Aduny, who was named an All-MSC forward earlier in the day, netted the golden goal in the 96th minute of the game. The goal gave LWC its third overtime victory of the season, despite playing a man down the final 41 minutes due to a red card.

Campbellsville managed only seven shots in the game, but had two strong goal-scoring opportunities in the second half with LWC keeper Yuta Nomura out of position. On the first try, Nomura stopped a one-on-one shot by Casey Clarke for the Tigers' only shot on target in the half. The second was a shot just wide to the left.

The Tiger defense fended off 24 shots by the Blue Raiders in the game, including 10 saves for CU goalkeeper Kyle Thomas. Nomura had five saves for Lindsey Wilson.

CU concludes its season at 8-10-2. LWC (17-0) will play for the Mid-South Conference Championship on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
