Lady Tigers qualify third relay team for nationals

WILMORE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University's women's swimming program qualified another relay team Friday evening for the NAIA Championships, posting an A-standard times for the 400-yard medley relay in the opening session of the Asbury University Invitational.

Ellen Hittson, Alison Lee, Kathleen Ewing and Brooke Cato teamed up for a time of 4:41.92, a near seven-second improvement from the Lady Tigers' last meet Nov. 21 at Centre College to qualify by 3.04 seconds. The 400-yard medley relay joins the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relays as qualifiers for the NAIA Championships, which will be Feb. 29 to March 2 in Oklahoma City.

Campbellsville competed in four other events Friday evening in the two-day, three-session swim meet. Hittson also had an improved time in the 50-yard freestyle, shaving off .27 of a second.

400-Yard Medley Relay - Ellen Hittson, Allison Lee, Kathleen Ewing and Brooke Cato, fourth, 4:41.92

200-Yard Freestyle Relay - Hittson, Lee, Ewing and Cato, fourth, 1:59.23.

50-Yard Freestyle - Cato, ninth, 27.3; Ewing, 13th, 28.73; Hittson, 16th, 29.14

500-Yard Freestyle - Lee, 10th, 5:55.90.

200-Yard IM - Cato, eighth, 2:31.44.

Campbellsville has 96 team points after the first session of competition and is in third-place in the four-team invitational. Centre College leads the meet with 280 points, Asbury is second with 251 and Bethel University (Tenn.) is fourth with 12 points.
