PULASKI, Tenn. - If the CU Softball Tigers didn't have bad luck, they
wouldn't have any at all. On the second day of the Martin Methodist
Meltdown Tournament CU lost two eight-inning games, 7-6 to McKendree and
5-2 to Reinhardt.
Campbellsville led 6-5 going into the bottom of the eighth, but
McKendree hit a lead-off, two-run homer to win. CU scored two in the
first and fourth and one in the fifth before plating the go-ahead run in
the top of the eighth.
In the eighth,
Emma Napier scored
Morgan Bullock, who was on second by virtue of the international tie-breaker rule.
Napier scored in the first off a
Bailey Dillender single and then
Alyssa Barker plated Dillender with a double. Alex Jane Clements, who was 3-4 on the day, singled to start the fourth and
Jordan Cornett scored she and Barker with a single. Clements scored again in the fifth when Bullock knocked her in.
CU used three pitchers in the game,
Courtney Turpin suffering the loss.
The Tigers had 14 hits, only one for extra bases.
In game two, Turpin had a no-hitter through six innings but lost the game when Reinhardt scored two in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Barker doubled in the fifth and scored when Cornett singled. Cornet scored when Napier doubled.
Campbellsville gets right back on the diamond Sunday with games against Reinhardt (4:00) and Martin Methodist (6:00).
