The Eagles struck first as Evan Thomsen scored on a single by Matt Ciolek in the top half of the first inning, but Tiger starting pitcher Colton Brown struck out Greg Bowling to end the inning - the first of eight K's in five innings of work for Brown.

The Tigers answered back in the bottom half of the first with a single run on a base hit by Rylan Chin that scored Trent Seamons. Seamons was 3-for-4 on the day with two walks and two RBIs. Neither team scored in the second, one of only two scoreless innings for the Tigers, who were also held silent in the sixth. The Tigers added one run in the third, three in the fourth, and again in the fifth, making the score 8-1.

"This was the best total effort we've had offensively all year by far, with our discipline and our approaches it was awesome. Everybody bought in today," said CU head coach Beauford Sanders.

The Tigers added two more runs in the eighth to tally the score at 10-1. Kevin Komstadius scored on a wild pitch, ball four to Steve Oiler, who eventually came around to score on a bases loaded walk by Seamons.

Other Tigers to have a good day at the plate were Chin, who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Michael Caleb, who crossed home plate three times and knocked in two despite being 1-for-4 with a walk at the dish.

Brown went five strong innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run. Anthony Wirkkala added two hitless, scoreless innings as did Jacob Cook, who struck out three and hit 90 ninety on the gun more than once.

"The key is does this continue? But I couldn't ask for more as far as discipline at the plate, working the plan, doing exactly what we've asked them to do all year. They did it today, everybody had a plan, everybody was on the same page and that's what we've got to have. If we can maintain this we'll be pretty tough. Defense and pitching were good again, outstanding day for the Tigers," said Sanders.

Campbellsville (3-5) is scheduled to open its Mid-South Conference season at home Friday with a 1 p.m. ET doubleheader against first-year MSC member University of Virginia at Wise.
