BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University softball capped off a doubleheader split Wednesday with a 9-0 shutout at Union College. The Lady Tigers fell short in the early game, 3-1.
The Lady Tigers put together one-run innings in the first and third and then added two apiece in the fourth, fifth and seventh to stretch out the lead.
Alex Jane Clemmons led CU with a 3-for-3 performance in the second game and four hits total on the day after singling in
Kacie Vincent in the third inning of game one for the Lady Tigers' only run.
Union tied the first game with an RBI double by Autumn Greenwell in the bottom of the fourth and posted two more runs in the fifth to secure a three-run lead. The Lady Tigers stranded two in the seventh to end the game.
Bailey Dillender and
Jordan Cornett each had two hits for CU in the night cap.
Taylor Wroe (1-2) collected her first win in the circle as a Lady Tiger, allowing only four hits through four innings.
Martina Riney struck out five in three innings of relief work for CU.
The Lady Tigers (3-10) are scheduled to host the University of the Cumberlands for a Mid-South Conference doubleheader Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. ET
