ST. PETER, Mo. - The Campbellsville Swim Tigers finished day two of the three-day national meet with three top-16 finishes. Â
After finishing out of placing in the Consolation Heat of the 200-Medley Relay, the Water Tigers regrouped to garner their first top 16 finish in the 800-Free Relay event later in the timed-final preliminary race. Â
Swimmers Tori Reiss,
Brooke Cato,
Ellen Hittson, and Catie Sattler made the way for the relay event for the Tigers on Thursday. Â
On Friday, enthusiasm was high for the Lady Tigers, according to coach Steve Doss.
"After I had looked at the psych sheet for Friday, I knew we were in a great place as a team to make the finals, but we would have to swim our best, just as we have prepared", said Doss. "And, they did."
The 200-Free Relay, seeded with a 1:50 was bested with a 1:46 finish for the Tigers placing them 16th for the finals later in the evening. Next in the day came the 400-Medley Relay. Â
"This is a great event for us," said Doss. " We have some real good individual stroke swimmers and this event really brings that out." Â
Backstroker Tori Reiss, Breaststroker,
Meagan Pickett, Butterflyer,
Kathleen Ewing, and Freestryler,
Brooke Cato, make up the 400 Medley Relay team for the Tigers. After again finishing just out of the top 16, the Tigers found their way into the finals due to a technical issue with another team.
"We made the top 16 again," said Doss. Â
Â
Going into the last day of swimming, the Tigers have three top 16 finishes and a total of 4 points, a first since the program was been re-established four years ago. A complete summary of the meet will be made later. Day 3 for the Lady Tigers has but one event, the 400-Free Relay.
