Tigers fall in NCCAA Mid-East Region soccer semifinal

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Campbellsville University struck quickly, but Covenant College responded with four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory in the first semifinal game of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid-East Region Men's Soccer Tournament Friday, hosted at Union University.

 


Roraigh Yearwood wasted no time in scoring the first goal of the game with just 3:07 ticked off the clock. Drew Sin had the assist on the play.

However, Covenant's Matt Hudnut responded less than 40 seconds later with an assist to Garrison Dale to even the score. Hudnut went on to score the go-ahead goal, and eventual game-winner, in the 25th minute and added an insurance goal in the 74th minute. Tyler Morrison also got in on the action, scoring in the 48th minute.

Max Malachiyev had three saves in goal for CU, while Shuler Polk had seven for Covenant.

Campbellsville's 2012 season comes to a close witha  13-6-1 record, while Covenant will advance to Saturday's NCCAA Mid-East Region final against Union University.
