Lady Tigers explode for 107-78 win over UVa. Wise

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.  -  If Campbellsville was a lunch-time buffet, UVa. Wise's Chelsea Cluseman would have to join Overeaters Anonymous. The junior forward for the Lady Cavaliers feasts on Lady Tigers.

She followed up a 29-point and 20-rebound performance on Jan. 7 with 20 points and eight rebounds  Saturday afternoon, but CU still prevailed 107-78 in the 2011-12 home finale. Cluesman averages 17 points and seven rebounds on the season.

"I can't believe they (Wise) haven't won more game," said Coach Ginger Colvin. "Their top three players had 21, 20 and 17. They're the ones we needed to key on and we still couldn't stop them.

"We couldn't throw it in the ocean down there (in an 84-78 overtime win)," Colvin. "But we had to have this win if we expect to go to the national tournament. We have 18 wins and the chance to creep toward a 20-win season."

CU (18-9, 8-5) closed the first half on a 19-10 run to take control at the intermission, 56-43. Courtney Clifton initiaed the run with back-to-back 3s. Campbellsville scored the first six points of the second half to lead by 19 and pushed the lead to 90-66 with six minutes left in the game.

For the second straight game Colvin was able to use her entire bench. As a matter of fact, the Lady Tiger bench held a 43-9 margin in the scoring column.

"It's nice to watch our freshman group comer in and be successful," said Colvin.

Mackenzie Lee led five players in double figures with 22. Mary Jehlik had 15, Chelsea Craig and Katie Alle with 11 apiece and 10 points from Courtney Clifton.

CU won the rebound war 42-30 with Craig having seven and Daizah Kimberland six.

Kristin Mullins led Wise (5-21, 1-14) with 21 points. She was joined in double figures by Cluesman with 20 and Amber Carter with 17.

It was the final home game for CU's lone senior, Megan Isaacs. Her teammates sent her off in style and the senior from Mundfordville, Ky. pitched in five points and two steals. It was the 49th home win against six home losses while Isaacs has been on scholarship (107-23 overall) at Campbellsville. She has played in 129 of the 130 games played while she has been here.

The Lady Tigers will not return to action until Saturday, Feb. 18 when they travel to St. Catharine in Mid-South Conference play. Tipoff at 2:00. The game will be broadcast over university radio (88.7). A link for listening on the computer can be found at www.campbellsvilletigers.com.
