WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - In a final tuneup for nationals, Campbellsville traveled to the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday to get in some final competitive pool time.
The Lady Tigers, swimming a bit shorthanded with both
Alison Lee and
Ellen Hittson nursing injuries, had a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a personal best for
Katie Kelien and season best for
Kathleen Ewing.
"It's important to work really hard in the water as we prepare for nationals in a couple of weeks," said Coach
Casey Smith.
Campbellsville will head to Oklahoma City, Okla. on March 1, 2 and 3.
Brooke Cato,
Carrie Wohlschlegel and Ewing finished 1-2-3, respectively, in the 100-yard free and Kelien's time of 1:16.77 was a personal best in the same race, good for fifth place.
Cato swam a :59.01, Wohlschlegel a 1:03.83, and a 1:03.98 for Ewing.
Ewing's time of 1:08.42 in the 100-yard butterfly was her best time this season, according to Smith.
The 200-yard freestyle team of Ewing, Kelien, Wohlschlegel and Cato finished second in the time of 1:59.97.
CU swimmers and relays qualifying this season for nationals, include:

Alison Lee in the 200 free

Brooke Cato in the 50 and 100 free.
* And relay teams in the 200 and 400 medley; and the 200, 400 and 800 free relays.
