CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University used a 16-hit day to open the 2012 baseball season with a 12-4 victory over Indiana University Southeast.
IUS took an early 2-0 lead with a run in the first and second innings, but the Tigers bats came alive in the third inning and never let up.

Levi McCamish. With a full count and two outs,
Brandon Johnson found the hole at short with a single to score two more Tiger runs and gain a 3-2 lead.
The Grenadiers tied it, 3-3, in the fourth with an RBI groundout to short by Joseph Mattingly to score Tyler Woolums.
CU added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Rylan Chin delivered a one-out single and stole second to set up an RBI single for Tony Rossetto. Three batters later,
Chance Kopacz knocked in Rossetto's runner, McCamish.
The Tigers added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh with the help of back-to-back one-out doubles by
Tanner Nielsen and Lapchak each inning. Lapchak drove in Neilsen for one in the sixth and knocked in the fourth and fifth runs of the seventh.
Keaton Neeb started the scoring in the seventh with by being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out. Neilsen followed with a two-run double down the left-field line before Lapchak's double.
Marc Garza also doubled in the seventh to score Lapchak and stretch the Tigers' lead to 12-3.
IUS scored its final run in the eighth on a two-out single by D.J. Hutcherson to score Mitch Miller.
Jacob Cook earned the start on the mound for the Tigers' opener, exiting the game after five innings with a 5-3 lead. Cook struck out four and allowed three walks and three hits. He held IUS to a .167 batting average (3-of-18).
Andrew Shoemaker took over in the sixth and pitched three innings. He allowed one run off one walk and three hits while striking out three.

The Tigers out-hit IUS, 16-6, led by a 3-for-5, four RBI day from Lapchak. Johnson and Rossetto each went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Nielsen and Chin were 2-for-3. Both teams had two errors.
Campbellsville (1-0) will return to action Friday in Jackson, Tenn. The Tigers will meet Missouri Baptist University at 4:30 p.m. EST at Union University and then will play Union at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers' previously scheduled home weekend doubleheaders have been canceled against Rochester College on Saturday at noon and Siena Heights University on Sunday at 1 p.m. EST.
