Box Score 2 PORTSMOUTH, Ohio-Pitching was strong for the Tigers Saturday, as Campbellsville University remained atop the lead in the Mid-South Conference standings after picking up two wins at Shawnee State University, 2-0 and 4-2.

In the first game, senior pitcher Jacob Cook (3-1) posted his first complete game shutout in a CU uniform. The right hander from California held the Bears scoreless, while allowing only seven hits and striking out four.
Campbellsville took a 1-0 lead in the third. CU's Michael Durham reached on a fielder's choice as Rylan Chin was tagged out after driving a double to right. Antony Rosetto grounded out, but was able to advance Durham into scoring position. A single from Tanner Nielsen was enough to drive-in Durham for the Tigers' first run.
CU carried the 1-0 lead into the ninth, before posting an insurance run. After a single from Chance Kopacz, Chin bunted Kopacz into scoring position for the Tigers. Kopacz would take third, following a wild pitch from Shawnee's Alex Taku and Keaton Neeb's single scored Kopacz.
The series finale was not as close as the 4-2 score would indicate. CU held a four-run lead going into the ninth, before Shawnee State was able to get on the board.
Tanner Nielsen got things going quickly for the Tigers, reaching on a single in the first. Kopacz drove in Nielsen with a double for his 16
th RBI of the season to give CU a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers added to their lead with two unearned runs in the fourth. Kopacz singled and scored on an error, which allowed Chin to reach base. Durham singled to drive in Chin.
Kopacz scored again in the sixth after singling up the middle. After a Shawnee error, and
Aaron Schwoebel taking one for the team to advance Kopacz, Neeb drove in Kopacz with a sac fly.
Shawnee was able to post two runs in the ninth with home runs by both Danny Gesick and Cody Morrison.
Tiger senior
Michael McBride (3-4) picked up his third win of the season, going the distance for the Tigers in the final game of the series. McBride allowed only four hits and struck out one in his seven innings of work.
CU (16-4, 4-2 MSC) will return to action Tuesday in a neutral site game against Missouri Baptist University at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn.
