Gibby Briones used a two-out single and foot speed to score Campbellsville's first run of the day. As Briones took off to steal second, UPike pitcher David Bishop's pitch sailed low, allowing Briones to advance to third as the ball rolled to the backstop. With deuces wild in the first against Chance Kopacz, Bishop fired into the dirt again, allowing Briones to slide safely into home and put CU on the board.

Pikeville evened the score, 1-1, in the top of the fourth after Adam Overbay busted up Ryan Richardson's no-hit attempt with a single to center. He moved to third following a sac bunt and sac fly, before stealing home.

The Bears' run woke the Tigers' bats. Danny Lapchak singled to start the bottom half of the inning and scored on a one-out double by Kopacz. Ryaln Chin drove in Kopacz with a two-out single, giving CU a 3-1 lead after four.

Neeb, Nielsen and Lapchak recorded an RBI in the innings, while McCamish scored on a defensive indifference.

The run was only a spark, as Brandon Johnson struck a three-run home run to left as lighting and thunder crashed above. Following the home run, Rylan Chin legged out an infield single before stealing second and third on back-to-back pitches, but was left stranded to end the inning.
