COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Campbellsville dropped the first game of a three-game series at rival Lindsey Wilson College Friday evening, 4-2, at Egnew Field.
Campbellsville jumped on board first with a two-out bloop single into no-man's land at center by
Chance Kopacz, which scored
Danny Lapchak.
LWC took advantage of a two-run third though to take the lead. Left fielder Adam Peacock beat a throw to the plate to even the score, 1-1, on a two-out, RBI double by Manuel Alonso. Drew Barrett followed with another two-out double to put the Blue Raiders in front, 2-1. Barrett battled to stay alive at the plate in the at bat and had an extra chance after a foul ball down the right field line pop out of the glove of a running Kopacz.
Lindsey added insurance in the sixth on a two-out single by Dustin Murphy, which scored Manuel Ozoria, who reached on a two-out double. Ozoria led LWC with a 3-for-4 day, including a double in the sixth.

Tanner Nielsen led off the eighth with a walk and swipped second before scoring on a single to left by Lapchak. Lapchak was called out in a close play at second, taking away a potential tying run from being in scoring position.
Craig Edwards followed with a single to center and advanced to second on an error. After pinch runner
Levi McCamish took third on a wild pitch and
Marc Garza drew a pinch-hit, full-count walk, the Blue Raiders went to the pen.
Daniel Pulliam entered with runners on the corners and two outs. He got an infield pop up to exit the inning and protect Lindsey Wilson's 3-2 lead. Derek Cape (7-1) exited the game in position for the win after 7 2/3 innings. He allowed two earned runs on eight hits and three walks.
Lindsey Wilson added a run in the bottom of the eighth with a ball four wild pitch from
Ryan Richardson to score Jeff Kerian. That was the only run of the inning, as CU shuffled its lineup for the top of the ninth.
The Tigers were retired in order in the ninth.
With the win, Cape became the Blue Raiders' all-time wins leader with a 23-13 career record.
Phillip Gerber recorded the loss for CU, pitching six innings and allowing two earned runs off eight hits. He walked one.
Andrew Shoemaker allowed one earned run through one and a third innings.
Lapchak (2-for-3) and
Keaton Neeb (2-for-4) were the only Tigers with multiple hits.
Campbellsville (25-8, 7-3 MSC) will return to Egnew Field Saturday for a doubleheader against LWC (23-10. 9-4 MSC) at noon EDT. The games will be broadcasted on
