Eleven extra outs too much to overcome by LTS

MURRAY, Ky. - Campbellsville was out-hit by only 7-5, but the Lady Tigers allowed Murray 11 extra outs and suffered a 7-0 shutout loss Thursday afternoon.

Martina Riney (1-6) was in trouble in all but the second and sixth innings as the Owensboro sophomore walked eight and hit two batters. She did strike out five.

Murray set the stage with a five-run first, working in a free pass and two hit batters to their four-hit frame. The big damage came off the bat of Alexa Becker, who homered with two aboard. That came after Casey Castile's two-strike single scored two runs.

Murray's Chey Anne Gaskey fanned eight CU batters.

Campbelsville (32-19, 14-7) had five singles in the game by Kristin Benton, Kacie Vincent, Alyssa Barker, Jennifer England and Jordan Cornett, but only had runners in scoring position twice.

Barker reached base three times, being hit by a pitch in the second and hitting into an error at third in the seventh to add to her single.

Senior Day will be held Saturday at Vererans Memorial Park when the Lady Tigers meet the University of the Cumberlands in a 1 p.m. start.
