TROUTVILLE, Va. - Campbellsville went up 5-0 and held off Trevecca Nazarene 5-3 to boost the Lady Tigers into the winner's bracket final against California Baptist Saturday at Botetourt Sports Complex.
CU will meet Cal Baptist at about 12:30, as soon as the field is readied.
Campbellsville got a run in the second off
Heather Oakley's two-out homer and then two runs in both the third and fourth frames.
In the third,
Emma Napier drew a two-out walk and scored on an error from the leftfielder off the bat of
Jordan Cornett. Cornett would score off a single by
Bailey Dillender.
In the fourth, Oakley drew a leadoff walk and scored on an infield single by
Kacie Vincent. Napier's single scored the second run.
Courtney Turpin threw four innings of shutout ball, allowing two hits.
Taylor Wroe was doing great in relief until the sixth when a one-out illegal pitch on a full count breathed new life into Trevecca. Marielene Santos and Sarah Armstrong singled in front of a wild pitch and RBI-single by Tori Freedman. When the dust cleared Trevecca trailed 5-3.
Turpin returned to the circle and set the Trojans down 1-2-3 in the seventh.
