Campbellsville, Mid-Continent battle to scoreless draw

Box Score

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Two extra periods of play was not enough for Campbelsville University Friday evening, as the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net in a scoreless tie at Mid-Continent University.

The Tigers fired off 21 shots in the game and only five on goal, while holding Mid-Continent to nine attempts.

"We are a young team. Until someone steps up and makes a difference, we will always struggle with those games," Coach Adam Preston said.

Roraigh Yearwood led the Tigers with seven shots, including two in the first 12 minutes. While the freshman forward did not have a shot on goal, he narrowly missed on two attempts in the game. Trevor Jarvis led CU with three shots on goal. Alex Ryan and Gustav Carlsson each had one.

CU's defense held the Cougars to nine shots, four on goal, as Max Malachiyev posted his fourth shutout of the season for the Tigers. Mid-Continent scored three times in the game, including once in overtime, but each goal was disallowed due to being offsides.

Campbellsville (5-3-1) is now 1-0-1 against National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid-East Region opponent. The Tigers will travel to another NCCAA Mid-East opponent, Trevecca Nazarene University, on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
