Lady Tigers roll over UVA-Wise, 3-0

COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Lady Tigers, 14-4 (5-1 MSC), must have been smelling fresh meat on Saturday when they matched up against UVA-Wise, 2-14 (1-6 MSC). Not only did they smell it, they feasted on it.

Riding the heavy hands of a committee of players, Campbellsville put away Wise 3-0 (25-9, 25-19 and 25-12). Campbellsville ran it win streak to nine with the sweep, its sixth of the season. It all came the second day of the Mid-South Conference Crossover Tournament hosted by Lindsey Wilson College.

CU took commanding leads in the first and third sets to trim the Lady Cavaliers. But in the second set, Wise led 12-10 before a Daiane Souza kill and successive attack errors by the Cavs put the Lady Tigers in the driver's seat. From 20-15, Campbellsville traded points to capture the 25-19 second-set win.

Seven Lady Tigers were credited with a 43-16 kill advantage, led by Kelly Moyer's 11. She was supported by Rinata Aisena (10), Souza (7), Giselle Hernandez (6), Tara Robertson and Haley Bechtel four each and Laura DeGear (1).

CU had a phenominal .536 hitting percentage for the match.

Kira Stewart had two service aces and Jasckie Schwieger and Aisena one each. Stewart (20) and Schwieger (15) combined for 35 of 38 assists. Audrey Sanders led the team in digs with four. Moyer, Hernandez and Caitlin Dresing had three each.

The Lady Tigers will host the conference-leading Georgetown Tigers on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match-up. The junior varsity will play a preliminary m,atch at 5:00.
