CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Campbellsville got out of the gate fast and overpowered Victory College 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-14) in the first match of the NCCAA Mid-East Region hosted today and tomorrow at Lee University.
Campbellsville took a commanding 5-0 lead in the first set and never looked back.
The Lady Tigers used their explosive offense to out-kill Victory University 54-15. CU also recorded a season-high .485 hitting percentage; which is the highest since September 29, 2012 against University of Virginia at Wise (.536).
Although Campbellsville took over the match in the early going, the Lady Tigers did have a scare as First-Team All Mid-South Conference selection, Rinata Aisena, went down with a left ankle injury. At first it did not look good for the senior out of Riga, Latvia but she was held out of the rest of the match just for precautionary reasons.
Even with Aisena out of the match, Campbellsville used its other offensive weapons to outmatch the Lady Eagles.
Senior captains Kelly Moyer and Giselle Hernandez picked up the slack and led CU with 12 and 13 kills apiece and only totaled three attacking errors throughout the match.
Both were hitting a staggering .435 and .571, respectively.
CU used its big hitters on the front line to outplay Victory, but one Lady Tiger stood out in particular. Junior setter Jackie Schwieger led Campbellsville with 40 assists and three service aces. She also pitched in with five kills and seven digs.
With the well-rounded game from Schwieger, CU swept an opponent for the 15th time this season.

Although the mishap with hotels and having to play the opening game in the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament at 10 a.m., CU did not let it affect their play on the court.
