COLUMBIA, Ky. – Campbellsville's women trailed Lindsey Wilson by 11.5 points after day one of the Mid-South Conference Invitational. But the Lady Tiger swimmers were not able to make up any ground on Saturday and eventually stayed in third out of the five-team field.
University of the Cumberlands swam away with the competition, compiling 933.5 points over two days. Lindsey finished with 448, Campbellsville 396.5, Bethel 210 and St. Catharine 42 to close out the team scoring.
Â
"We are more a sprint team than a distance team and you'd expect us to do better on the first day," said Coach Casey Smith. "But I'm ecstatic with our effort, work ethic and team focus throughout the meet."
Â
Bailey Foxworth took first in the 1,650 freestyle and April Hill and Lindy Charity posted a couple of second-place finishes — Hill a 2:35.44 finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Charity a 1:21.14 finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
Â
Foxworth achieved an "A" Cut Standard time in her win. Shelby Mattingly got a "B" Cut Standard in the 100, achieving a season best along the way.
Â
"Our hard work over the last month has really paid off in our performances," said Smith.
Â
A long list of season and personal best times led Campbellsville University women's swimming in Friday's racing.
Â
Jenna Rueff put in a personal best in her 100 freestyle and then improved that mark in a time trial that was not part of the official meet.
Â
CU's 200 medley also improved using a different mix of people, according to Smith..
