OKLAHOMA CITY -- Campbellsville University climbed one spot in the team standings Friday at the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Oklahoma City Community College Natatorium. CU is now 16th among 20 teams collecting points after finishing in the Top 16 in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
In the 200 free, the Lady Tigers finished in a tie for 14th place with rival Lindsey Wilson College in a time of 1:46.46. CU was .03 behind the Blue Raiders during the morning preliminaries. Bailey Foxworth started the race with a 50-yard time of 26.17, taking a second and a half lead over LWC. CU slowly made up for it throughout the race. Seniors Carrie Wohlschlegel and April Hill swam the second and third legs of the race in 28.18 and 26.41, respectively, while Shelby Mattingly closed out the relay with a 25.60 in the final 50.
CU finished 13th in the 400-yard medley in a time of 4:18.59, cutting 12 seconds off its preliminary time. The relay team included Kyle Perkins, Hill, Foxworth, Mattingly. Kathleen Ewing swam the breaststroke in the prelim instead of Hill. Hill also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke prelim with a  time of 1:13.82.
Earlier in the day, Wohlschlegel was also recognized as the team's Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete. She holds a 3.97 GPA as an English major with a minor in music. She spent the fall semester studying abroad in England.
Competition will continue Saturday morning at OCCC. Foxworth will swim the 1650-yard Freestyle, Mattingly the 100 Freestyle and Hill will conclude her career at the NAIA meet with the 200 Breaststroke. The 400 Freestyle Relay will also compete.
