Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD, Va. – Campbellsville University split a Mid-South Conference doubleheader Saturday at Bluefield College, taking the first game 4-2 before falling 4-1 in game three of the weekend series.
The winning team in each game used a three-run inning to pull ahead and hold on for the win.

In game one, Campbellsville University head coach Beauford Sanders moved within one win of 700 victories as the Tigers' coach, as CU won his 699th game in a CU uniform.
Bluefield took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Chris Rosa and Jacob Wright singled to start the inning. Kaleb Long bunted both runners into scoring position before Kyle Long plated Rosa with an RBI ground out to second.
The Tigers responded in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of two walks, an error and a pair of RBI singles. Michael Bush drew a leadoff walk before Josh Potter reached base on an error. After Keaton Neeb bunted the two into scoring position, Bush scored on an RBI ground out by Aaron Schwoebel. Shayne Kelly loaded the bases with a walk before Carlos Torres and Angelo Simmons each singled to score runs in the inning. The bases were left juiced after Brandon Johnson hit into a fielder's choice at second.
Simmons led the Tigers with a 2-for-4 performance in game one, while Torres and Neeb had CU's only other hits. Sean Bouthilette went five innings for the win, allowing two earned runs off eight hits. He struck out five. Matt Robertson picked up the save with four innings of one-hit relief work. He fanned six. Justin Lynkins went the distance for Bluefield in the loss.
Campbellsville and Bluefield both scored a run in the fifth.
In game two, Nielsen tripled to start the inning and scored on a two-out error for Schwoebel. Winning pitcher and leadoff man, Zac Russell-Myers, evened the score, 1-1, on the first pitch with a home run to left.
Bluefield struck again in the bottom of the third. Russell-Myers provided the spark again for the Rams, delivering a one-out single. His courtesy runner, Blaine Hill, scored on a double by Wright. With two outs, Christian Burton and Wright scored on a two-RBI single from Kaleb Long, before CU starting pitcher Bret DeRooy got a ground ball back to the mound to end the inning.
The Tigers left two runners on base in both the fourth and sixth innings, but were retired in order to close the game in the seventh.
Nielsen finished the day 2-for-3 from the plate, while Simmons was 1-of-2, 3-of-6 in the doubleheader.
Myers gave up four hits in his complete-game victory with three strikeouts. DeRoy gave up two earned runs off five hits and a pair of walks in the loss. He also struck out three. Tylar Schmunk closed the game by pitching the sixth inning
