Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A 13-inning, three-plus hour standoff came to an end with a hard hit ball to deep left field by Patrick McMeel, as Campbellsville University snapped a three-game skid with a 7-6 extra innings win over Asbury University.
With two outs, Jacob Phillips slapped a single into shallow center. He later scored on what would have been at least a double for McMeel, had it not been the game-ending hit.

Phillips' single snapped a streak of 22 batters without a hit since CU catcher Keaton Neeb doubled to drive in Brandon Johnson in the bottom of the seventh to give Campbellsville a 6-4 lead at the time.
Asbury took an early 3-0 lead in the third, after Andrew Moran walked to start the inning and then Brandon Smith reached on an error, followed by a Casey Messsner RBI single. Two more scored on loose balls at the plate, the first coming from a wild pitch by Darrick Brilz, Jr., and the second a passed ball by Neeb.
Campbellsville got on the board in the bottom of the third when Angelo Simmons doubled and scored on a Travis Hayes RBI single after being sacrificed to second by Levi McCamish.
Simeon Bell tripled to start the fourth for Asbury and scored on a ground out RBI by Messner to maintain the Eagles' three-run lead, 4-1.
That score remained through five and a half innings until Brandon Johnson singled to left-center to start the bottom of the sixth. Campbellsville slowly chipped away in the inning, as Neeb followed Johnson's lead with a single and Josh Potter drove in Johnson with a sac fly. Simmons delivered a two-out, two-RBI single to tie the game. The hit scored Neeb's courtesy runner Tanner Scott and Aaron Schwoebel. Phillps followed with a single to score Simmons as the go-ahead run.
CU's only insurance run came in the seventh as mentioned above.
Asbury added two runs in the eighth to force extra innings.
The two teams combined to use 11 pitchers, as Brilz got the start for the Tigers, while Drew Pettit recorded the win. Anthony Palmer received the loss in relief.
Phillips led all players from the Tigers' 8-hole, hitting 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Simmons was right there with him, driving in two runs, scoring two and hitting 2-for-6. Johnson and Neeb also each had two hits.
Simeon Bell was the only multi-hit Eagle, hitting 3-for-6.
