Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University baseball was swept for the first time this season in Mid-South Conference action, dropping a doubleheader Saturday, 5-1 and 4-1, to No. 14 Cumberland University. The doubleheader sweep follows a 5-3 loss on Friday, dropping the Tigers to four games out of first place in the MSC Standings.
Cumberland used a three-run third inning in each of the games to gain distance for their wins, and needed little more.

Campbellsville took a 1-0 lead in the first game after Tanner Nielsen led off the inning with a walk and scored on an RBI single by designated hitter Patrick McMeel.
The Bulldogs took their lead, 3-1, in the third with five hits, including a leadoff hit by Justin Johnston and RBI singles by Craig Monson and Tyler Anderson. Brodie Ross also had a sac fly to score a run in the inning. Cumberland added two more in the top of the seventh on a two-RBI double by Ross. Anderson, Monson and Cory Urquhart each hit 2-for-5 to lead the Bulldogs in the first game.
In the second game, Johnston sparked the three-run third again, this time by advancing on a third strike passed ball by Carlos Torres. Urquhart reached on a bunted base hit, followed by Chris Hall being hit by a pitch for the second time in the game. Monson drove Johnston on a ground out fielder's choice and Ross produced another RBI double to score Urquhart, while Monson scored on an error.
Trailing 3-0, Shane Woodson singled with one out in the bottom of the third and stole home on a delayed double steal. Cumberland added another run in the top of the seventh with an RBI triple by Monson.
Josh Potter and Michael Bush each had two hits in the doubleheader, combining for four of the Tigers' 10 hits.
Brett DeRooy took the loss in the first game, allowing five earned runs off 10 hits and a walk through 6 2/3 innings. He struck out two. In the second game, McMeel was charged with the loss after
Campbellsville (23-11, 9-6 MSC) is scheduled to host Indiana University Southeast for a non-conference game Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. EDT.
