LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Christiana Harris and Myra Rose each set school records Friday at the University of Louisville Cardinal Twilight outdoor track & field meet.
Harris .21 of a second off her 100-meter hurdles time to qualify for the NAIA Championships in a time of 14-94 during preliminaries. Rose finished third in the NCAA Division I meet, reaching a new height of 1.72 meters in the high jump. The mark improved her previous best of 1.65 to an NAIA A standard, locking in her spot in the NAIA Championships.
The other Campbellsville University women competing Friday evening were Tiosha Beasley and Keisha Chiles, who finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the long jump. Beasley jumped 5.63 meters in the long jump and also finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.39 meters. Chiles jumped 5.62 meters in the long jump.
Chiles also ran the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She was .06 shy of qualifying for the finals after finishing 12th with a 12.36 preliminary time. She finished tied for 10th in the 200 with a time of 25.38.
Bobby Mingie was the only men's athlete competing, running a personal record of 50.83 seconds in the 400-meter dash. The race concludes his freshman campaign, coming up two seconds shy of an NAIA standard.
Beasley, Chiles, Harris and Rose will compete in the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Marion, Ind., May 23-25.
