Tiger soccer completes sweep at Bethel Classic

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Campbellsville University completed a weekend sweep Saturday with a 2-1 win over Taylor University in the Bethel College Classic.

 



The Tigers got on the board in the 16th minute with a goal from Alex Ryan and added a second goal in the 29th minute when Ryan Foster assisted Roraigh Yearwood.

CU possessed the ball most of the first half, out shooting Taylor 10-6 in the first 45 minutes of play, including five on target. While both teams managed four shots on goal in the second half, Taylor tallied six more shots in the final period, managing to net one of those with less than 13 minutes to play.

Danny Cawley assisted Kyle Carr for Taylor's first goal at 77:44. The Trojans had another chance less than a minute later, but Josh Beachler's shot was blocked by a Tiger defender and ruled a team save.

Camilo Roman led CU's attack with four shots on goal and six total, while Yearwood and Ryan had two shots on goal apiece.

Max Malachiyev picked up the win in goal with four saves, while Taylor's Michael Williams also had four.

Campbellsville (4-0) will travel to Brescia University on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. before returning home Friday, Sept. 13 to host Salem International University at 8 p.m.
