CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Lady Tiger soccer had their hopes dashed for an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships for the second straight year by Lee University. The Lady Flames defeated Campbellsville in the NCCAA Mid-East Regional championships game, 4-0.

The Lady Flames more than quadrupled the total number of shots by Campbellsville and the Lady Tigers could not keep up with the up-tempo pace of play.
Lee recorded 22 shots compared to five by CU. And 14 of the Lady Flames 22 were on goal. Second Team All Mid-South Conference goalkeeper Amanda Howard had a busy evening, recording 10 saves, but could not hold down one of the top programs in NCAA DII.
Campbellsville got down early as Kathryn Healy put Lee University up 1-0 in the 25th minute. The Lady Flames extended their lead to 2-0 just eight minutes before half-time putting CU in an early hole.
CU came storming out in the second half with offense from its front line. Devon Burnside received a pass in the box and beat Lee goalkeeper Marbel Egwuenu, but the goal was waved off because of an offsides call.
Lee University extended its lead to 3-0 and 4-0 in the second half, giving them the automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships in Kissimmee, Fla. on Dec. 1-6.
Rachel Veatch led the Lady Tigers with three shots and two being on goal. Burnside had one each and First Team All Mid-South Conference striker Mhairi Fyfe also recorded one a shot on goal.
Campbellsville is now leaning on an at-large bid to the big dance in Kissimmee. The Lady Tigers have a 13-8 overall record and are looking to make their first-ever appearance in the NCCAA National Championships. The selections will be made next week.
