Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Campbellsville held Montana Western to 15 percent shooting from the field and secured a 55-20 sweep of its three games in the Las Vegas Frontier Shootout, elevating coach Ginger Colvin to her 200th win.
"We are so, so tired," said Colvin, "We were really good on defense tonight, but couldn't get much done on the offensive end. We just didn't have our shooting legs"
The victory gives the Lady Tigers a 15-1 season to date and cements Colvin's 7 ½-season mark at 200-55 (.784).
Even though CU had trouble getting it in the basket, it held a 14-0 lead through the first 14 minutes of the initial half. Lindsey Burd scored five of the team's first 10 points and then Lexxus Graham and Caroline Owen connected on four late 3s to extend the margin to a 30-6 at halftime.
Graham ended up hitting 4-for-10 from behind the arc and led all players with 14 points. The Bulldogs had four players with three points apiece and didn't get their first basket until Jenna Banks caromed one in off the baseline at the six-minute mark. Montana didn't hit double figures until the 14:40 mark of the second half.
Owen and Graham both hit 3s to start the second half and pushed the lead to 36-11. From there CU used everyone on its bench to outscore Montana 19-7 the rest of the way.
"You love that … that everyone got in and got to play," continued Colvin. "These trips are special, and even more so when you win and everyone contributes."
If someone had told Colvin last week that her team would score 157 points in three games against top-notch competition, three time zones removed from home, she would have thought them crazy.
Montana (7-6) shot just 10 percent in the first half when CU held a 23-17 rebounding edge and forced 16 turnovers.
The Lady Tigers had 15 assists on their 20 made baskets, led by LeeAnn Grider's six.
The contingent of CU fans, who made up 85 percent of the people at the game, flashed 8x10 sheets of paper that spelled out "Congratulations Coach, #200" as time was expiring in the game.
"At first I thought they lined up so you could take their picture. Then I thought they were going to do the wave. It wasn't until Hootie (Miranda Denney) read what the sheets spelled out that I knew what was going on.
"We have really good kids. I've been blessed with them throughout my career. But they're good because of their parents. I'm just blessed to have a program with this much support."
The Lady Tigers aren't back in action until Friday, Jan. 2 when Mid-American Nazarene comes to town for a 2 p.m. tip.
