Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – Campbellsville trailed 4-0 after four innings, but scored a dozen runs in the next three innings for a 12-4 non-conference victory at Brescia University Monday afternoon.

T.R. Dunne (2-0) gave up two earned runs off five hits in the first four innings, but found a rhythm after CU's bats started going. He retired 15 of 18 batters faced during the last five innings, including eight strike outs. The junior from Bartonville, Ill., finished the day with eight hits allowed and 14 Ks with only one walk in his complete-game win.
CU started the game with a pair of singles by Gentry Kinsella and Alex Scanlan, but was unable to advance the runners. The Tigers left two on again in the second after Jamie Valle reached on an error and Ricky McColloch singled.
The Brescia Bearcats found success in the bottom of the second. Hank Stewart drew a one-out walk, and then Nick Wolterman and Vin Barbato delivered two-out singles. Barbato's single to right score two, but he was thrown out stretching at second to end the inning with the Bearcats up 2-0.
Dunne retired the side in order in the third but gave up two runs and three hits in the fourth to give Brescia a 4-0 lead. With one on and one out, Stewart singled to put runners on the corners. Wolterman later delivered a two-out, two-RBI single to left.
Extra base hits came at ease for the Tigers in the top of the fifth to chop the Bearcats' lead in half, 4-2, as Kinsella doubled and Scanlan tripled to start the inning and put CU on the board. Scanlan later scored on an RBI ground out by Carlos Torres. CU ended the inning with two on after an Alex Kline walk and Jacob Russell single.
Dunne retired the side again in the fifth, and McColloch set the tone for a six-run top of the sixth with a leadoff home run. Shane Woodson was hit by a pitch in the next at bat and Kinsella walked before Scanlan singled to load the bases. CU's remaining five runs came with two outs as Torres hit into a 4-6-3 double play to score Woodson and tie the game, 4-4. Kinsella scored on an error by the catcher, followed by a two-RBI double by Ryan Squires and RBI double for Valle to take a four-run lead, 8-4.
The Tigers added four more in the seventh. Woodson and Torres singled to put two on before Alex Gutierrez collected a pinch-hit walk with one out. Jacob Russell teed off on a pitch for his first home run of the season to stretch CU's lead, 12-4. It was the junior transfer's first home run and first grand slam of his collegiate career.
Scanlan finished with four hits on the day, going 4-for-6 with one run scored and one RBI. McColloch was 3-for-4 with his only run and RBI coming from his solo blast, while Kinsela, Russell and Valle each had two hits. Russell's slam led CU in RBIs with four, followed by two from Squires' sixth-inning double.
CU struck out only four times, twice in the second and twice in the ninth inning.
Campbellsville (10-8) is now on a three-game win streak for the second time this season and will look to extend the streak Tuesday when the Tigers host Mid-Continent University for a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. EDT at HIG Field. The games were originally scheduled to be played at MCU but were changed Monday due to field conditions.
