Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Tiger baseball split a pair of one-run games Tuesday at Campbellsville University's HIG Field in their first home appearance in two weeks. CU dropped the first game of the twin bill against Mid-Continent University, 2-1, but pushed past the Cougars, 3-2, to cap the afternoon.
It was CU's fourth and fifth one-run games in the last four days.

Game 1 – Mid-Continent 2, Campbellsville 1
MCU jumped on the board in the first with singles by Uriel Hawkins, Nick Borders and Braswell. Carlos Torres gunned down Hawkins at the plate to advert the first scoring opportunity on Braswell's single, but Jordan Adams followed with a two-out single to center to score two.
The Tigers stranded two in the bottom half of the inning after a pair of two-out singles by Torres and Jacob Russell.
Campbellsville starting pitcher Chris Tuma allowed only one more hit through the third, but ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after a missed catch by Torres in left and single by Argenis Salazar started the Cougars with runners on the corners. Alex Watson took over for Tuma and pitched out of the jam.
CU rallied in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, starting with a Ryan Squires walk and Ricky McColloch being hit by a pitch. With two on and two out, Steve Ferarro reached on an error to score Squires and move McColloch to third, but Gentry Kinsella lined out to center to end the game.
Todd Adams secured the save for the Cougars, while Bill Schroeder (2-1) picked up the win with a five scoreless innings of work, three hits and two walks. He struck out two.
Tuma (1-2) gave up seven hits in his three innings on the hill, allowed two earned runs. Watson only gave up one hit in four scoreless innings of relief.
Torres and Russell each had two hits to combine for all of the Tigers' hits in the game. McColloch was hit twice and Squires was walked twice to be the other CU players to get on base multiple times in the game without an error.
Game 2 – Campbellsville 3, Mid-Continent 2
Campbellsville played small ball to get its offense going in the second inning of game two and in the bottom of the seventh. Alex Kline singled to left to start the inning and moved to second on a bunt by Squires. A wild throw by the pitcher allowed Kline to score and Squires to take third on the bunt. Jamie Valle then laid down a squeeze as Squires dashed home to make it 2-0 with no outs.
Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth.
Dexter Cline, who got the start for the Tigers on the mound, allowed only two hits in five scoreless innings before giving up a single to Jay Singleton and hitting Hawkins to start the sixth. With two on, Allen Hewey came in for the save, but gave up a two-RBI double down the leftfield line to  Salazar. Tied 2-2, Hewey worked the bases loaded but got out of the jam without giving up the go-ahead run.
The Tigers were unable to get anything going in the bottom half of the inning, but took advantage of a pitching change in the seventh. Brad Bozic took over for the Cougars and Kinsella reached on an infield single to start the inning. Bozic then threw a wild pitch over the head of the catcher to advance the runner and Kinsella swiped third. Alex Scanlan was hit by a pitch and Mid-Continent opted to intentionally walk Torres, who had four hits on the day. With the bases load Russell hit a blooper into right to score Kinsella and end the game. It was the second straight game Russell drove in runs with the bases loaded in the seventh.
Hewey (2-1) recorded the win after the blown save opportunity, while Torres led the offense, hitting 2-for-2. Kinsella, Russell and Kline also had hits in the game. Squires also walked twice in game two, giving him four free passes on the day, and McColloch was hit once, being hit three times in the doubleheader.
Campbellsville (11-9) will return to action Friday, March 14 to host University of the Cumberlands in the first home Mid-South Conference series of the season. Start time is 3 p.m. EDT.
