Chris Tuma (2-2) started on the mound for Campbellsville and picked up his second win of the season. The junior from Fremont, Calif. pitched seven strong innings, giving up three hits and striking out five AU batters. He also only threw 69 pitches in the seven innings, which is definitely below the 15 pitches per inning goal for the CU pitching staff.

Campbellsville took advantage of five Asbury errors and 10 free bases via base-on-balls and hit-by-pitches.

It all started in the bottom of the second inning after Jacob Russell walked to lead off and was driven in by Alex Kline for the games first run. Kline would advance on a second wild pitch of the inning by Asbury starter Joey Johnson (0-3) and ended up scoring on a Jaime Valle single.

Johnson was the first of four pitchers on the day for the Eagles. He recorded the loss giving up five runs but only four of them were earned. He also walked three of the 14 batters he faced, while giving up five hits.

Campbellsville scored three more runs in the bottom of the third inning after picking up back-to-back-to-back singles from Alex Scanlan, Alex Kline (1RBI) and Jaime Valle (2RBI).

Gentry Kinsella led off the fourth inning with his third walk in three at bats. The Gilbert, Ariz. native moved up to second base after a wild pitch by Eagle pitcher Austin Walley, moved to third base on a successful sacrifice but by Ryan Squires and scored on a Carlos Torres sacrifice fly.

Russell got the Tiger rally going once again after the two sacrifice outs by Squires and Torres with a hard-shot single to left field. He stole second base and advanced to third on a pass ball, setting up a wild play in the next at bat.

Alex Scanlan drew a walk for CU and attempted to get in a run-down between first and second, which caught the attention of the Asbury defense. Russell was able to score before the 2-4-3-6-1 put-out.

Campbellsville scored three more run in the final three innings to complete its first run-rule of the season.

Torres, Kline and Valle all picked up two singles with Valle finishing with three RBIs to lead the Tigers. Kline also pitched in two RBIs, Torres one RBI and Kinsella one RBI.

Campbellsville now moves to 14-10 on the year and head coach Beauford Sanders picks up his 998 overall win at the collegiate level. The Tigers will host West Virginia Tech on Wednesday, March 19 with a double header starting at 1:30 PM. You can find a link for live stats, here.
