CU manages but two hits in 3-0 loss in NCCAA Mid-East

Box Score

CLINTON, Miss. — Campbellsville waited too late to rally and was shut out tonight in the opening round of the NCCAA Mid-East Region by host Mississippi College, 3-0.

CU (42-18) had four base runners in the game, second and third inning walks to Sara Paragon and Brittany Rippy and then seventh inning hits by Markie Smith (1B) and Paragon (2B).

Otherwise, the Choctaws' Lacie Patterson was masterful in the circle, walking two and allowing the two seventh inning hits.

Taylor Wroe (19-4) gave up six hits (three in the top of the seventh) and walked four batters.

The free passes were particularly hurtful in the fifth when Wroe walked the bases loaded and MC used a Bethany Fletcher single to score the only run the Choctaws would need.

In the top of the seventh, two-out singles by Erica Johns and Megan Everett preceded a two-run double by Shay Mickens

Campbellsville will play the loser of the game between Mississippi College and Union University in a Thursday, May 8 game at 2 p.m.
