Tigers shut out Clarke in Crimson Wave final

Box Score EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – Ten players scored or assisted a goal Sunday in an 8-0 shutout for Campbellsville University over Clarke University (Iowa) to claim the Crimson Wave Invitational championship.

Alex Ryan was named the tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring two goals Sunday, as did Marcelo Petit. Cesar Pena, Guilherme Cheng, Roraigh Yearwood and Gustav Carlsson also each scored. Carlsson and Xavier Martinez each had two assists, while Gabriel DeFrietas, Adam Friddell and Ross Lindsay each picked up an assist. Shane Buchanan also helped set up a goal off a deflected shot. Yearwood joined Ryan on the All-Tournament Team.

The Tigers' defense, led by Adam Linderholm and DeFrietas, helped hold Clarke to only one shot on goal as Nestor Escobar recorded his second shutout of the season.

"We were able to get all of our guys some playing time today. Every single one of our guys came on and performed well," CU assistant coach Alex Adams said. "I was proud of our effort and attitudes throughout the entire game."

Campbellsville (3-0) will host Kentucky Christian University for its home opener Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m., before returning to Indiana to play Grace College on Saturday, Sept. 6.
