JACKSON, Tenn. — Honeye Heydari scored one goal and assisted on another as Union University slipped past Campbellsville tonight in women's soccer, 2-1.
Campbellsville (4-4, 0-1 MSC), after trailing 1-0 on a 51st minute goal by Kelsey Wilkes, got the equalizer in the 77th minute off the foot of Rachel Veatch. The junior from Bowling Green Ky. finished a pass from Chelsea Gill.
But the Lady Tigers let Sara Johnson slip in behind the defense just two minutes into overtime and she found Heydari for the game-winner.
Union outshot CU 14-8, 11 on goal. That was eight more shots on goal than the Lady Tigers could muster.
Freshman keeper Amanda Howard accumulated nine saves.
Union improves to 3-3.
Campbellsville will get back into conference play on Tuesday, Sept 23 when it hosts Georgetown at 6:00.
