Galeano's golden goal leads Tigers to a 2-1 victory

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Marco Galeano netted a golden goal within the first three minutes of overtime to lead the Tigers in victory today over Lindenwood University- Belleville, 2-1.

Campbellsville (9-2, 3-0 MSC) recorded its lowest number of shots in a match this season against Lindenwood-Belleville (6-6, 3-3 AMC), but that didn't matter for the Tigers.

"This type of win can help define the rest of our season," said assistant coach Alex Adams. "It's the type of game that is completely character driven and luckily we were able to pull out an overtime victory.

"Lindenwood University-Belleville was a very good team and we are happy to finish with this type of result on the road."

In the first half Ross Lindsay recorded CU's lone shot and shot on goal for the first half. LUB recorded five, three one goal.

Out of halftime the Lynx scored within the first minute of play. Sebastian Reyes netting Lindenwood-Bellevilles' only goal of the game.

In the 80th minute Jose Campuzano recorded the first goal for the Tigers and his sixth of the season. Chris Moyo assisted in the goal, good for his second assist of the season and fourth of his career.

Galeano recorded the golden goal three minutes into overtime, to end the match.

"Marco Galeano has been huge for us since he has been back. He helped us through our last victory, and was able to finish a beautiful slotted ball from Jose Campuzano in overtime today. Just having him here is inspiring to our other guys to be a better team collectively."

Gonzalo Sapena recorded a career-high of 12 saves in today's matchup. Sapena's season and career high before today was eight saves against Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 11. He now has 49 saves on the season.

Campbellsville will stay on the road and travel to Georgetown for a MSC double-header on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Women start at 6 p.m. ET with men to follow at 8 p.m.
