PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Annija Abolina and Mirela Vasconselos led the way as Lady Tigers rolled over Pikeville (Ky.) tonight in three sets, 25-23, 25-16, 25-19.Â

Abolina recorded 13 kills in the victory over the Bears while only committing one attack error, finishing the match with a .632 hitting percentage. Abolina produced 11 of her 13 kills in the first two sets. Vasconselos recorded 11 kills, finishing with a .526 hitting percentage.
Campbellsville (13-11, 5-6 MSC) dominated play over Pikeville (11-18, 0-13 MSC) for the second time this season. On Tuesday, Sept. 8 the Lady Tigers won in three sets with scores lthat looked very similar.
The Lady Tigers started on a 6-1 run forcing the Bears to call an early timeout in set one. UPIKE battled back tying the score 15-all making CU earn its points. CU ends the set on a 9-5 run and with a kill from Abolina.
CU started the second set much like the first, going on a 4-1 run. The Bears tied the set 6-all but CU recorded the next point and never relinquised the lead. After a huge block from Julia Fonseca, UPIKE was forced to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Lady Tigers finished the set on a 11-4 run filled with multiple kills by Vasconselos, Abolina, Jana Kortas and Brooklyn Bowling.
The beginning of set three was point for point with the teams trading kills and errors. After tying the set 9-all, CU and the Bears traded 3-0 and 4-0 runs, respectively. It wasn't till the 17-all mark when CU took advantage of Vasconselos' and Bowling's back-to-back kills and Vasconselos's block to push the score 21-17. Vasconselos finished the match with a hard kill and the final point, 25-19.
Campbellsville finished the match with 41 kills. Kortas and Fonseca recorded seven and six, respectively. Inoa Fields handed out 23 assists while six teammates collectively recorded 11.
Fonseca posted her second-best block total with four solos. In addition to Vasconselos's 11 kills, she recorded two solo blocks. Marcella Compeau dug up 12 balls. Â
The Lady Tigers will return to Powell Athletic Center on Tuesday, Oct. 20 to host Cumberland (Tenn.) First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET.
