Petit, Fanck lead the Tigers in 12-0 shutout of OCU

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers used two hat tricks from Marcelo Petit and Guilherme Fanck to surge past Ohio Christian University 12-0 tonight at Finley Stadium.

Campbellsville (11-2, 4-0 MSC) recorded its fifth shutout of the season and its seventh straight win. CU played 12 reserves, 10 of them recording a shot, goal or assist in the tonight's match.

"I am happy that we were able to get a lot of guys on the field," said assistant coach Alex Adams. "It gives experience to some new players that are looking to prove themselves and show what they are able to add."

Petit recorded his first goal right out the gate, scoring within the second minute. In the 26th minute, he netted a penalty kick. His third and final goal came in the 77th minute off an assist from Guilherme Cheng. That goal was his 13th of the season and 35th of his career. Petit has recorded five hat tricks in his career.

Fanck recorded his hat trick on the last three goals of the game, all within the last eight minutes of the match. His first goal was assisted by Joao Gomiero, the rest were solo. Fanck has four goals on the season, only playing in the last two games.

In the 22nd minute freshman Sam Wills, recorded the second goal, his second goal of the season. Alex Ryan scored off a penalty kick in the 25th minute.

The Tigers dominated the offensive going into halftime with 23 shots, compared to OCU's two.

The Tigers reserves saw a lot of action in the second half but that did not cause the momentum to slow. In fact, it increased. The Tigers haven't scored eight goals in a half since last season against Tennessee Temple on October 13.

"I thought our depth really showed again today," said Adams. "It is something we will need as we prepare for postseason play. We just need to focus on one game at a time and keep looking to improve every time we step onto the field."

Out of halftime, Shane Buchanan scored in the 64th minute and again in the 80th minute off an assist from Ross Lindsay. Buchanan recorded his fourth and fifth goals of his career.

In the 67th and 75th minutes, Guilherme Cheng recorded back-to-back goals off of back-to-back assists from Jack Murry. Cheng's second goal was the 18th of his career.

Campbellsville finished the match with 43 shots, 28 on goal. Ohio Christian struggled on the offensive end only recording four shots, one on goal which Josh Hollis saved.

Campbellsville hosts No. 11 Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Finley Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
