FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — Lady Tiger wrestling had one first place and two second place finishes at the Emmanuel College Duals to place third as a team Sunday afternoon.

Erica Sotelo won the 123lb weight class while Koral Sugiyama (130lbs) and Hannah Gladden (143lbs) both placed second in their respective weights.

Sotelo, a freshman from Albany, Calif., received a bye in the first round but went on to win two consecutive matches to take the 123lb title. She defeated Morgan Huff from University of the Cumberlands with a pin in 1:31 and then knocked off Jennifer Juarez of Life University by decision, 12-6 in the final.

Juarez knocked off Kasey Ricketts in the semifinals with an 8-0 decision to face Sotelo. Ricketts finished strongly with a pin in 2:33 to place third over Bobbi Navarette.

Sugiyama finished runner-up in the 130lb weight class. She also received a bye in the first round but went on to win two consecutive matches before falling in the final. Sugiyama pinned Vanessa Sanchez of Adrian College then knocked off Rachel Hale from King College with a 10-0 tech fall. Sugiyama fell in the final, 10-0 to Maya Nelson from Cumberlands.

Gladden also came up one win short. She picked up two tech falls en route to making the finals – 10-0 over Hannah DeiAngel from Lyon College and 11-0 over Destiney Robinson from Life University. She then fell 11-0 to Rachel McFarland from Adrian College in the championship match.

No. 7 Cumberlands, first place, 186 points; No. 2 King University, second place, 146 points; No. 1 Campbellsville, third, 144.5 points; Life University, fourth, 78.5 points; Lyon College, fifth, 53 points; Adrian College, sixth, 34.5 points; and Emmanuel College, seventh, 14.5 points.
