BOXSCORE
Campbellsville (14-12, 6-7 MSC) said goodbye to lone senior, Jana Kortas, tonight in the Powell Athletic Center. Dating back to 2005 the Lady Tigers are 9-2 on Senior Night. Kortas was just short of a double-double recording nine kills and 11 digs.
No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (25-3, 12-1 MSC) has only dropped one Mid-South Conference match all season. Lindsey Wilson sits atop the MSC standings while CU sits at fifth.
The Lady Tigers started the first set on fire. Tied up 9-all, Chanel Raymundo recorded a powerful kill that was the turning point for the set. The Lady Tigers never gave up the lead after that, going on a 17-10 run to end the set, 25-19. CU recorded only five errors in the set compared to Lindsey Wilson's 11.
CU held the lead most of the second set, even going on a 11-5 run to lead 17-11. Lindsey Wilson took advantage of CU's service errors and went one two 3-0 runs to tie the score 20-all. After trading errors, Mirela Vasconselos recorded a kill to put the Lady Tigers up one. CU would end up beating themselves after recording two kills from Julia Fonseca, then back-to-back errors. Campbellsville called a timeout but the Blue Raiders took the next two points to end the set, 25-23.
After being tied 1-all in the third set, Lindsey Wilson ran away, jumping to an 18-8 lead and forcing the Lady Tigers to call a timeout. At the 20-12 mark Campbellsville got hot with two kills from Kortas and Abolina and then an ace from Abolina, but it wasn't enough.
The fourth and final set was intense, CU trailed the Blue Raiders by one or two points the entire set. CU called a timeout at the 17-14 mark but those three points were too big of a gap to make up against the No. 3 team in the nation.
The Lady Tigers recorded their third lowest hitting percentage of the season (0.096) but Campbellsville also held the Blue Raiders to their third lowest hitting percentage of the year (0.185).
Brooklyn Bowling recorded a career high of five aces while Inoa Fields assisted 34 kills.
On the defensive end, Fonseca recorded seven assisted blocks and one solo good for a career high of eight. Jessie Penleton led the match in digs at 16.
Campbellsville will travel to Life University on Saturday, Oct. 24 for two matches at noon and 2 p.m. ET.
