Talladega takes down No. 1 Lady Tigers, 83-79

TALLADEGA, Ala. — Campbellsville ran into a red-hot Talladega College today as the Tornadoes took down the Lady Tigers, 83-79.

Talladega hit 57 percent from the field to overcome 25 turnovers and rallied from 10 down in the third period to move CU to 4-1 on the season.

"This has been coming on us," said coach Ginger Colvin. "We had those big wins early in the season, but today wasn't like that."

Lindsey Burd (27) and Emily Fox (23) combined for 50 of CU's 79 points.

Talladega (5-1) beat CU 37-23 on the boards and outscored Campbellsville 15-7 on second chance points. The Tornadoes equaled the Lady Tigers with six made 3s.

The Lady Tigers committed 18 turnovers in the game, the majority in the second half while Talladega reversed a 10-point deficit in the third and a 57-56 lead.

Campbellsville trailed by two with 15 seconds to go and Fox hit a layup that would have tied the game had she not been called for a charge. Shakeena Benton hit two free throws with five seconds to go to seal the four-point win.

Benton led all scorers with 29 points.

The Lady Tigers stay on the road Thursday, Nov. 19 to open Mid-South Conference play with a 6 p.m. game in Portsmouth, Ohio against Shawnee State University.
