No. 17 Lyon holds on against Lady Tigers, 58-52

BATESVILLE, Ark. — Campbellsville dug itself a hole too deep to climb out of today against No. 17 Lyon College, losing 58-52 for the Lady Tigers' third loss in their last four games.

CU (5-3, 1-1 MSC) trailed by 14 points after suffering a scoring drought early in the fourth quarter. CU would cut that lead to three, 55-52, with two minutes to go when Emily Fox scored nine points during an 11-0 run.

But that's the last points Campbellsville would score and Lyon (4-2, 1-1 AMC) got its remaining points at the free throw line to secure the win and its 82 percent home winning percentage.

The Lady Tigers turned the ball over an uncharacteristic 25 times leading to 28 points by the Scots. CU would turn Lyon over 21 times, but got only 14 points to show for it.

Campbellsville led 12-8 after one quarter, boosted by seven points from Kristen Jacob. Jacob totaled nine on the day. Fox and Lexxus Graham led CU with 14 points apiece to tie Lyon's Carina Jackson for game-high scoring honors.

The Lady Tiger were outshot by Lyon, 48 percent to 33 percent, from the field and hit 26 percent of their 3-point shots. Graham canned three of the five makes from behind the arc.

After leading 26-23 at intermission, Lyon took a 33-31 lead on Whitney O'Dell's first 3. She would score another a minute later and the Scots were off and running. A 10-2 run to start the fourth quarter created the separation that worked Lyon's lead to 55-41 with 4:10 to go in the game.

Lyon would not score again until Carina Jackson's free throws with 25 second remaining.

After a four-game road swing, the Lady Tigers return home for a Monday, Nov. 30 matchup with Midway College. Tip is set for 6 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on the CU Sports Network, 88.7 The Tiger (wlcufm.com) and watch live - http://portal.stretchinternet.com/camp/.
