Tigers dominate UPIKE, move on to MSC semifinal

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Top-seed Campbellsville played University of Pikeville for the second time in four days and the results were almost similar. The Tigers knocked the Bears out of the Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 10-0 win on Thursday afternoon at Lover's Lane Soccer Complex.

Campbellsville (16-2) scored four goals in the first half and six in the second half to move on to tomorrow's semifinal match. Pikeville ends its season with a 2-11 record.

The Tigers picked up another impressive performance from Marco Galeano, who scored half of CU's goals with five. In the previous two games against the Bears, Galeano has scored a combined nine times to lead the Tigers to two victories. He now has 13 goals in 2015.

Ross Lindsay opened the scoring in the fifth minute off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box and then CU added on in the ninth minute with a goal from Ryan Foster.

Guilherme Fanck scored on an assist from Alex Higdon to put CU ahead 3-0 in the 30th minute then it was the starting to be the Marco Galeano show. Diego Morales hit Galeano in the 37th minute to put CU ahead 4-0 just before halftime.

After the intermission, Galeano added his second score in the 50th minute to push CU ahead, 5-0.

Diego Morales and Kai Senoo both added goals in the second half before Galeano scored three consecutive to end the match.

Campbellsville's goalkeepers Gonzalo Sapena and Josh Hollis both shutout the Bears, playing 40 and 50 minutes, respectively. Hollis secured the lone save for CU, which came in the second half.

The Tigers out-shot Pikeville 39-1 overall with 24 on goal.

Campbellsville meets five-seed University of the Cumberlands in tomorrow's semifinal match. The Patriots knocked off four-seed St. Catharine College in the first upset of the tournament, 4-1.
