Lady Tigers respond for 99-62 win over Indiana East

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lindsey Burd had a career scoring night with 30 points and the Lady Tigers pulled away from scrappy Indiana University East in the second half to win tonight in the Powell Athletic Center, 99-62.

"I'm not sure the girls have grasped the fact that we're going to get everybody's best every night," said coach Ginger Colvin. "We adjusted our defense a little bit in the second half and it opened up some stuff for us."

CU turned the Red Wolves over 29 times with five steals each by LeeAnn Grider and Emily Fox.

IUE's Tia King drilled three 3s in the first four minutes and Campbellsville had to rally late in the first quarter to only trail by two, 23-21 at that break.

But the Lady Tigers went on a 12-4 run to open the second quarter, fueled by back-to-back baskets by Kristen Jacob and a 3 by Fox, to push out to a 33-27 lead.

The Redwolves trailed by 10 at the intermission, 42-32, and could not withstand a rush of points to start the third quarter and never recovered from a 53-37 deficit. Burd hit a layup off a steal and a nice pass from Grider and she ended the third quarter with her first 3 of the season for a 68-46 advantage.

Burd had 10 rebounds to lead everyone as Campbellsville won the battle of the boards, 49-32. Fox and Madison Kaiser joined Burd in double figures with 19 and 15 points, respectively. Kaiser's 15 points was also a career-high. Jacob pulled down eight boards to go with four assists. Grider led everyone with eight assists and had six rebounds. CU had 24 assists on 36 made baskets.

"This was a good game for us," said Colvin. "They tested us all the way to half. They attacked us and they were very good in transition. I'm happy with the way we responded."

King led IUE with 15 points and Kristen Mille added 12.

The Lady Tigers go on the road Saturday, Nov. 14 for a 2 p.m. encounter with Talladega College.
