RINCON, Puerto Rico — Abby Miller scored 13 points and had two assists and three rebounds as Campbellsville held on to defeat a pesky University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez tonight in the Rincon Arena, 59-47.

It was Miller's buzzer-beating 3 as time was running out in the first quarter that established the Lady Tigers' lead at 17-6. CU (12-3, 3-1 MSC) led by as many 18 early in the fourth when Miller hit a runner for a 49-31 advantage.

But Mayaguez' Hillary Martinez scored 10 of her game-high 20 points during the last six minutes of the game to pull within the final margin.

"I thought Abby (Miller) and Lexxus (Graham) played good for us tonight, but I'm not pleased with our level of intensity," said coach Ginger Colvin.

"I realize it's hard to get up for a team you beat just two night ago, but they're a well-coached NCAA DII school and we played just good enough to win."

Graham added 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from behind the arc. Emily Fox hit two 3s and also scored 11 points. Lindsey Burd came within an eyelash of a double double with nine points and an equal number of boards, eight off the defensive glass.

"It's a win and now we don't have to worry about any more games and we can have some fun in the sun and water," continued Colvin.

Campbellsville never trailed in the contest, scoring the game's first seven points. CU went on a 15-11 run in the third quarter as six different players reached the scoring column.

The Lady Tigers are off until Tuesday, Dec. 29 when Reinhardt University makes a visit to Powell Athletic Center. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
