Lindsey Wilson knocks off Tigers in Battle of Highway 55

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson blistered the nets by shooting the ball the best it has all season and Campbellsville could not keep up, falling in the Battle of Highway 55, 102-76.

The Blue Raiders (8-2, 2-0 MSC) outpaced Campbellsville (7-3, 1-2 MSC) by hitting 60 percent from the floor and 55 percent from behind the arc.

Trailing by eight points, 22-15 with 12:51 remaining in the first half, Lindsey Wilson went on a 19-6 run and Campbellsville would never recover.  

Dmitry Utolin lit up the Tigers with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting. He also knocked down 3-of-5 from deep to pace the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson went ahead by its largest first-half lead, 21 points, with 2:34 left but Campbellsville was able to whittle that to 17 at half – 53-37.

In the second half, the Tigers worked the lead down to 13 points, 59-46, after Dii'Jon Allen-Jordan knocked down 1-of-2 free throws. But Lindsey Wilson would double up CU and go on a 31-15 run to take a 91-61 lead.

Campbellsville was led by freshmen Hagen Tyler who knocked down five 3-pointers and scored 21 points. Allen-Jordan scored 11 of his 12 points in the second period and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Ron Scott (12), Elliott Young (12), and Sekou Harris (10) all finished in double-figures for CU.

Lindsey Wilson had five players in double-figures with two scoring 20-plus. Charles Sutton finished just behind Utolin's 25 points with 23 of his own. He was all one of three players to knock down three 3-point baskets.

Campbellsville will now travel to Cumberland University on Saturday, Dec. 5 for another road game inside the Mid-South Conference.
