Lady Tigers' defense stifles Milligan College, 84-39

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville let its defense dictate its offense tonight as the Lady Tigers defeated Milligan College in Powell Athletic Center, 84-39.

CU (14-3, 3-1 MSC) forced 24 turnovers and snatched 18 steals in holding the Buffaloes to 29 percent shooting.

The Lady Tigers were led by Lindsey Burd's 22 points. The senior from Hardyville, Ky. also pulled down nine rebounds in 21 minutes of play. Her points tonight allowed her to pass DeAusha Atkinson on the Lady Tigers' scoring list after reaching 1,000 the night before.

Burd was joined in double figures by Jordan Doram's 12 points in only eight minutes of play.

For the second straight night, CU got off to a hot start, holding leads of 12-2 and 20-7 before ending the first quarter on Madison Stewart's buzzer beater and a 22-9 advantage.

Milligan (12-3, 6-0 AAC) was led by Allison Jones' nine points. The Buffaloes were outrebounded 45-26.

Campbellsville scored eight of the first 10 points of the second quarter, fueled by Burd's six straight and the race was on. CU led 40-20 at the half and 64-28 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Tigers hit six of their 14 3-point shots, led by two makes each from long range by Emily Fox and Lexxus Graham. CU hit 40 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line on 24-of-29 accuracy from the stripe.

The Lady Tigers are off until Thursday, Jan. 7 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. and a 7 p.m. matchup with Fisk University.
