Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Fox's heroics push Lady Tigers past Cumberland, 61-59

LEBANON, Tenn. — The Campbellsville and Cumberland matchup in women's basketball has become quite a rivalry inside the Mid-South Conference. Today, the top-ranked Lady Tigers scored 11 of the final 16 points to hold off the 12th-ranked Bulldogs, 61-59 at Dallas Floyd Gymnasium.

After trailing 54-50 with 3:17 left, Campbellsville's Emily Fox scored 10 of the last 11 points to spark the Lady Tigers. She finished one point short of her career-high with 24 points, knocking down 5-of-8 3-point baskets and 8-of-12 overall.

Madison Kaiser was also a spark in the second half. The freshman from Floyds Knobs, Ind. scored six straight points to give Campbellsville a 34-31 lead and capped a 7-2 run to end the third quarter.

Cumberland answered, though, in the fourth, as Julie Fox caught the hot hand. She single-handily brought the Bulldogs back with 11 of the next 14 points to give Cumberland a 54-50 lead before Campbellsville's Fox took over late.

Even though Cumberland outrebounded the Lady Tigers, Campbellsville hit the boards hard in the second to get a 17-10 advantage – all without NAIA All-American forward Lindsey Burd who did not return after an injury at the end of the first quarter.

Kaiser finished with 11 points for second-most to lead Campbellsville. Chelsey Hall matched Julia Fox's 18 points and Nicole Bowers finished with 10 points to round out the double-figuring scoring.

The Lady Tigers move to 8-3 overall and 3-1 inside the Mid-South Conference while Cumberland falls to 8-3 and 1-2 inside conference play. Campbellsville will now have six days off for final exams before hosting Fisk University on Friday, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. ET in Powell Athletic Center.
