LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the National Christian College Athletic Association Volleyball All-America Teams with three Lady Tigers being named.Â
Jana Kortas was named NCCAA First Team All-American, while Inoa Fields and Annija Abolina were named to the Second Team.
Campbellsville finished the season with a 19-15 record and 6-8 inside Mid-South Conference play. The Lady Tigers knocked off University of the Cumberland in the MSC tournament, 3-2 before falling to eventual tournament champion Lindsey Wilson College in the semifinals.
Kortas, the lone senior from Simpsonville, Ky., finished her season leading the Lady Tigers with 444 kills and a .256 hitting percentage. Kortas broke into the 1,000 Kill Club this season against Shawnee State on October 8th, recording a career-high 33 kills during the match. She is only the ninth Lady Tiger to reach the 1,000 kill plateau and sits at No. 7 in program history.
Kortas ended her career with 1,163 kills, 629 digs and an attacking percentage of 0.251.
Fields, a junior setter from Mililani Town, Hawaii, finished with 10.1 assists per set, good for seventh all-time in a single-season at Campbellsville. With those numbers, she was second in the MSC with assists per set and in total assists (1292). Fields recorded a career-high with 57 assists in the Lady Tigers match against Shawnee State.Â
Fields led the Lady Tigers in service aces with 51.
Abolina, an outside hitter from Riga, Latvia, ended her sophomore campaign with the second highest kills (379)Â and service aces (46). She managed a .215 hitting percentage while picking up 144 digs this season.
Abolina recorded a season-high 18 kills against Bryan College on September 11,
This year's First Team honors 14 student-athletes: five seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen. This year's Second Team honors seven student-athletes.
