BOX SCORE

Tenth-ranked Campbellsville (23-5, 10-4 MSC) jumped out to its largest lead of 22 points in the second half but St. Catharine fought back to cut the Tigers' lead to 12. Campbellsville was able to push its lead back to a 22-point margin to finish down the stretch.

The Tigers came out hitting on all cylinders to take a 22-7 lead with just above 11 minutes left in the first half. The Tigers shot 44 percent (8-of-18) in the opening 10 minutes and held the Patriots to only 4-of-17 (23.5 percent).

St. Catharine did not get into double digits until the 6:47 left in the first half with a Ben Vozzola jumper. Vozzola wasn't finished though, sparking the Patriots on an 11-2 run. His second 3-pointer with 4:30 left and cut the CU lead to single digits, 28-19. Vozzola cut the lead to single-digits again, 29-21, but Campbellsville answered, but CU held the Patriots scoreless for the next 3:48 and used an 8-0 run to extend its lead, 37-21, at halftime.

St. Catharine never recovered in the first half, hitting 28 percent (9-of-32) to finish the first 20 minutes. CU also went to the free throw line 16 times hitting 10. SCC was 1-of-5 from the free throw line in the first half.

The second half started just like the first half. Young drilled his second 3 to push CU up, 40-21. On the next possession, Campbellsville jumped out to its first 20-plus point lead, 44-23, on a Damontre Harris assist to Eric Gaines.

St. Catharine cut the lead back down to 46-30 on a Vozzola steal and dunk. He finished with a team-leading 15 points, but only two of those came in the first half. Harris ended a five-minute CU drought at the 12:30 mark. His basket was followed with a Patriot score, leading to the much-needed under-12 media timeout.

SCC kept fighting and cut the lead to 13, 50-37 with a 3 by Lorenzo Dewberry but Harris came to the rescue once again. After a missed 3 by CU, Harris went high above the Patriot defense to pick up the rebound and basket, 52-37, with 9:04 left.

Dewberry answered out of a timeout and hit his second 3-pointer to cut the lead to 12 for the first time since 2:05 remaining in the first half. But Young punched right back with his third 3 to push CU back up by 15 with 6:05 remaining. He hit his fourth triple to extend Campbellsville's lead to  its final score, 65-43.

The Tigers cooled off mightily by hitting 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the floor. CU struggled at the charity stripe, hitting only 48.4 percent (15-of-31), but still outshot SCC which was 2-of-9.

Harris finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the season. Rob Robinson chipped in with 10 points and six boards (all in the first half) and Gaines finished with a game-high 13 rebounds.

CU currently sits in third place in the Mid-South Conference and a half game behind Georgetown (23-4, 10-3 MSC) for the second spot. UPIKE (25-2, 12-2 MSC) sits a top of the standings. Both Pikeville and Georgetown will make up Thursday's cancelled games on Monday, Feb. 23 - MSC standings.
