Kent State University: Gaines played two seasons for the Flashes from 2010-2012. He was known for his defensive ability and having the highest max-verticle leap ont he team at 42 inches. He averaged 16.6 minutes a game in his two years and shot 42.3% from the field.

 

High School: Attended Hillcrest High School where he played for years. He averaged 15.3 points a game along with 2.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds. He was a part of the 2010 Illinois 3A State Championship team at Hillcrest. Gaines was ranked in the top 20 from the class of 2010 in Illinois

 

Personal: Majoring in sports mangement. He is the son of Lenwood and Valerie Gaines.
