Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ga. — A three-run third frame against William Woods gave the Lady Tigers separation and allowed CU to salvage a 1-1 day at the NFCA/NAIA Leadoff Classic at the South Commons Softball Complex.

After being no-hit by South Carolina Beaufort's Kristy Cook in the early afternoon game, CU was awarded the No. 1 seed in the Silver Bracket of the 20-team field against William Woods.

Beaufort 3, Campbellsville 0

Haley Szpila walked twice for Campbellsville's only two base runners, but she got erased once.

Beaufort's Cook struck out eight in her seven innings of work.

Victoria Decker (2-1) absorbed the loss, giving up five of the seven hits she allowed in the first two innings. She also walked two and fell victim to two of CU's four errors.

Decker stranded five in the first two frames to keep the game close. Beaufort scored a third run in the sixth with two outs, aided by another error and a double by Sam Boland.

Campbellsville 4, William Woods 2

Neely Quint (3-0) lost her shutout when she gave up a two-run seventh inning homer to Julie Sheer. Otherwise Quint worked around a nine-hitter by not walking a batter and striking out two.

Campbellsville took a 1-0 lead in the second when Rebecca Miller singled and was advanced to third by consecutive sacrifices by Adrean Jordan and Shelby Ray. Jacqueline Roof's single plated Miller.

The Lady Tigers added a three spot in the third, highlighted by a two-run single by Jordan. Miller knocked in the inning's first run with Kristen Benton at third.

Miller led the four-hit attack with two singles, Jordan and Roof had one apiece. Campbellsville worked William Woods' pitcher Bre Logan for seven walks, two each by Kristen Benton and Haley Szpila.

CU plays at 11 a.m. ET Sunday in a win-or-go-home game against William Carey.
